Awards and Recognition
It's no wonder our volunteers have so many admirers—their positive reach extends all across the country.
Mary Cullen, who has been supporting the staff in the New York office for 13 years, received the President�s Service Award at a ceremony in New York City on April 21, 2009. Established in 2002 when President George W. Bush called on Americans to dedicate two years, or 4,000 hours, over the course of their lives to serving others, this award recognizes outstanding service, and is given to people who have volunteered 4,000 hours or more. Since Mary started working with Medicare Rights in 1996, we have benefited from over 26,000 hours of her dedicated work!
The Seniors Out Speaking on Medicare (SOS Medicare) program in Westchester was awarded the MetLife Foundation’s 2020 Older Volunteers Enrich America’s “Award of Excellence in Older Volunteer Program Management” in Fall 2020. This award is given to programs “whose practices in recruitment, training, retention and recognition of older volunteers set a standard of practice for others.”
The Medicare Rights Center Board and staff, and the many people with Medicare we serve, are grateful to all of our volunteers for their sincere and outstanding commitment.
And, every year, we set aside a special time to let them know how much we appreciate their dedication to helping those in need—our Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon allows us to gather with our volunteers to say �THANK YOU!� for everything they do.
